Autopsies are conducted on cadavers subject to legal proceedings in the province of Valencia, in accordance with the terms prescribed in the previous paragraph. Staff shifts are organised in such a manner as to ensure the premises are permanently open for the reception, custody and identification of cadavers; the shifts of the autopsy technicians or, where appropriate, the personnel who assume their functions, who provide assistance to the forensic doctors are similarly organised for cases in which autopsies are performed outside the headquarters of the Institute of Legal Medicine. The Diagnostic Imaging Unit is staffed by forensic medical specialists and/or specifically trained forensic physicians.
